One thing that I really enjoy about Christmas is explain the traditions and culture that I grew up with. Yesterday I had the great experience of teaching my children how to write a letter to Father Christmas or as the majority call him Santa Claus.
Well we actually wrote on postcards and then hung them up on our Christmas tree.
Each of my children wrote a very short message, in English, asking Santa Claus for a present that they really wanted. My oldest boy wanted a new Youkai Watch game and my second and third eldest children wanted colouring books and pencils.
What I usually do is take these postcards and add them along with my student’s letters for my schools Christmas party. I then dress up as Father Christmas and read a few letters out along with my boys letters. Then I tell them that Santa Claus is good friends with their father and he will try his best to get what they wished for as long as they continue to behave.
